About Me
Hi, my name is Helen Blackwell and I was born in 2006 in Bangkok and my mother Parichad is from Thailand and my father Walter is from England. We live in Chiang Mai, Thailand and I love to play Ice Hockey. I also do some fashion modeling. I have been in a lot of fashion shows and won some awards. Thailand’s main sports paper had a full front page article on my Hockey career and I’ve done several TV and radio interviews.
At the age of 8 I asked my father when we could go skiing again. He replied, at the moment we could not afford it but since they had just opened an Ice Hockey rink in Chiang Mai he suggested I try that, so I did and I loved it. One day I saw some boys playing Ice Hockey and said I wanted to do this as well. So after 6 months of training I joined the boys as only girl in Chiang Mai Jack Frost Ice Hockey team.
My first tournament was in Singapore at age 8. At around age 10 my home team split into 2 teams one being my current team Griffins Chiang Mai and over years my skills developed more. I was welcomed to join as a guest player in the top Bangkok team as well as playing for a Taiwan team and a Malaysian team.
I started with players defense but now prefer to play as a forward. I practice at least 20 hours a week including at least 4 nights each week on ICE training with my team or with my coach. I am still the only girl in my home team but there are girls in the other Chiang Mai teams and quite a few in Bangkok teams who I practices with and played with in tournaments.
In 2018 I won a place in The Thailand National Girls Ice Hockey team and first played for Thailand in an international girls youth Ice Hockey tournament in September 2018.
I hope I can develop further in my Ice Hockey career as well as in my modeling and help Thailand national teams become top Woman and Girls Ice Hockey team in Asia.
